I think the shoes are for a narrower foot. Not only because of the strap, but also the width of the cork insole. The leather strap is tight at first, but over time it adjusts to the foot. Good buy.

Following the advice in the comments, I bought a size bigger and I'm happy. The waistband over the leg is rather loose, so they don't cut anything, but they are just right for the length. They are comfortable, they are easy to walk in.

For the narrow foot. The length of the insole should be measured from heel to toe, i.e. complete. Here, the figures don't match at all. The upper leather is already scratched in the second order.

The straps are extremely tight. I wore a size bigger shoes, but I still had to forcefully stretch them to get them on.

The slippers are very comfortable, fit the foot beautifully and look good. Unfortunately, when I start walking in the slippers, my foot slides out of the slippers backwards because the slippers are extremely narrow.

Narrow, small flip-flops, not at all true to a normal size 38, for being anatomical, I don't know what foot these are made for. I normally buy size 38 flip flops without trying them on and they are fine, this one didn't fit my foot at all.
